The Prince’s Trust

The Prince’s Trust Enterprise Programme helps unemployed young people aged 18-30 explore if self-employment is right for them, if they have a viable business idea and learn about planning/starting a business. The 4 day workshop helps them explore a range of topics including Personal Skills, Personal & Business Finance, Marketing, Selling & Business Planning. Young people who complete the 4 days and want to pursue their business idea will be given 1 -2 -1 support to prepare a Business Plan. Young people starting their own business will be supported for the first 3 years of trade by a Volunteer Business Mentor and their Prince’s Trust Programme Executive. There is also access to a range of free and discounted offers, i.e. discounted websites, free legal advice, etc. Young people who decide that self employment is not right for them will be offered the support of a Progression Mentor to help them access education, training or employment.

How does it help young people? Participants can:
- Work out whether self employment is right for them
- Explore and test their business ideas
- Meet other young people considering self employment
- Develop their skills
- Work with a mentor
- Start their own business or active alternative goals in education, training work or volunteering.
